About QFB
QFB was established in 2014 by its Managing Director, Rob Remnant, who spent almost 40 years developing his career with two highly-regarded multinational corporations (Jardine Matheson and the LVMH Group) – almost entirely in the Australasia region. Rob was determined to combine the knowledge gained while managing super-deluxe alcohol beverage brands with his innate understanding of Asia’s complexities.
And so QFB was born.
Rob Remnant – Managing Director
British by birth, and now with dual British and Australian nationality, Rob Remnant is the Founder and Managing Director of QFB Pty Limited.
Prior to embarking on his Quest For Balance, Rob was appointed Managing Director of the PIPER-HEIDSIECK and Charles HEIDSIECK champagne houses in November 2011, following their acquisition by Christopher Descours’ family-owned EPI Group earlier that year.
Rob left Eton College in 1974 and immediately commenced his career with Hong Kong-based Jardine Matheson & Co., Ltd, with whom he undertook assignments, over the following 21 years, in Hong Kong, London, Tokyo, Seoul, Johannesburg, Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne and Hanoi.
In 1996, he joined the LVMH Group as Managing Director of Moet Hennessy’s joint venture with Diageo in Malaysia. He relocated to Singapore in 2001, from where he managed the development of the Moet Hennessy brands in the emerging markets of the Asia Pacific region, before being appointed CEO of Moet Hennessy Australia – the Sydney-based distribution entity which he established on the company’s behalf in 2003.
In 2008, he was appointed Regional Vice-President (Asia Pacific) of Moet Hennessy’s Estates & Wines Division, with direct accountability for the performances of MH’s Australian (Domaine Chandon and Cape Mentelle) and New Zealand (Cloudy Bay) wineries, and for the strategic development of the MH still and sparkling wine brands in the Asia Pacific region. He relocated to Tokyo, in 2010, as President of Moet Hennessy’s Japanese subsidiary, Moet Hennessy Diageo KK – at that time the third most profitable entity in Moet Hennessy’s distribution universe.
Rob returned to Australia from Champagne in 2015, having earlier established QFB with the aim of exploiting opportunities to develop champagnes and other ultra-premium wines and spirits brands in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. As such, QFB acted as the owner’s representative in Australia and New Zealand (and, formerly, Japan) of Champagnes PIPER-HEIDSIECK and Charles HEIDSIECK until mid-2018, as well as undertaking various assignments on behalf of brand owners looking to develop their businesses in the broader Asia Pacific region.
Rob is also a non-executive director of two highly-acclaimed Australian wineries, Taltarni and Clover Hill.
He resides in Sydney with his wife, Erika.
